Susan V. Busby

A divorce mediator and collaborative lawyer, Ms. Busby helps individuals and families retain control over their case by resolving conflicts without litigation. She is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and the Central Connecticut Collaborative Family Law Group. She is a board member of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution.

When she joined Louden Legal in 2001, Ms. Busby brought a wealth of skill and experience to the group. Born in Montreal in 1961 and a lawyer since 1993, she previously practiced litigation and trusts and estates with a large Connecticut firm. She is a graduate of McGill University (1988), and the University of Connecticut Law School (1993), where she was an editor of the law review.

Ms. Busby is co-author of a treatise on Connecticut Civil Procedure, and has written articles for other legal publications, including “Divorce and Separation” in American Jurisprudence, a legal encyclopedia. Her article, “A Practice With Heart,” was published in Bodhi Magazine in 2006 and republished in Connecticut Lawyer in 2007. Ms. Busby was chosen by the presiding family judge in Hartford to be part of the new Early Intervention Program, helping families with children resolve parenting issues early in their divorce process. Ms. Busby is also a trained pastoral counselor and meditation instructor. She and her two sons reside in West Hartford.
