Louden Legal Group practices matters related to family law, marriage, and the creation and termination of family relationships: divorce (dissolution of marriage), child custody and parenting issues, asset division, alimony, parental rights, child support, civil union and domestic partnership issues, legal separation, and prenuptial and postnuptial agreements.
Our work extends to such related areas as business, real estate, retirement plans, child development, taxes, estates and trusts, and the emotional impact of divorce.
The term "family law" broadly encompasses all that we do. "Matrimonial law" and "divorce law," while often used synonymously with "family law," technically are narrower, applying only to legal issues related to marriage.
Although most of our practice involves litigation, 95% of our cases are settled through negotiation rather than trial. We have tried many cases, however, when reasonable settlements have not been secured.
Through divorce mediation and collaborative divorce, we offer couples a respectful and non-adversarial approach to end their marriages with a minimum of acrimony and professional intervention.
While based in Hartford and New London counties, our lawyers handle divorce cases in most of the judicial districts in Connecticut.
